The daughter does somewhat reconcile her differences, not out of pity thankfully but with the realisation that it is her anger which is keeping her from seeing her mother’s side of things. Occupational therapy is supposed to be beneficial for dementia patients and Viraj encourages her to take up gardening and later, go back to photography - her first love.
The husband is shown to be supportive and all that but it’s a complete stranger Viraj (Lalit Prabhakar), who acts as Nandini’s emotional anchor in her time of need. Taking a departure from Hrudayantar, director Phadnis doesn’t bring the husband and wife close together once more. We get snatches of information and are supposed to imagine the rest. It’s not made abundantly clear what lead to the separation or why the court granted the custody of a girl child to the father. Though their daughter Nupur (Vedashri Mahajan) resents the break-up and isn’t on good terms with her mother. Here, the wife, Nandini (Mukta Barve) has been divorced from her husband Shishir (Prasad Oak) for some years, though they do behave amicably towards each other. There, the husband and wife were on the verge of a breakup when the tragedy united them. His debut Marathi film Hrudayantar (2017) dealt with a family coping with the crisis that ensues when one of the daughters is diagnosed with cancer. Our filmmakers have shunned subjects dealing with diseases but Vikram Phadnis seems to be the exception to the rule. Hollywood always had films dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's disease - Still Alice (2014) and The Notebook (2004) are two that immediately come to mind. Things do turn around somewhat when a stranger enters her home and tries to provide a new purpose to her life. She’s suddenly diagnosed with early-onset dementia, which turns her existence topsy-turvy.
